I searched and found a painting that I could identify with a bit. I am fascinated by the look of this actress, colorful, mysterious, thinking and the kind of silence in her eyes. I think it's beautiful and it makes me happy.

I purchased Ron van Dam's painting "The Newspaper Girl. It fits perfectly on the wall in my living room. The technique Ron used with pieces of newspapers and magazines, paint, and a shiny finish makes it fascinating to look at. The confident, sultry, and expressive eyes of the girl capture your attention and give the painting a presence in the room.

During my training in Holistic Bodywork with Connie van Dam, I came across some of Ron's (her brother) works. Connie had created a mini-exhibition. Each of them was beautiful works portraying powerful women. However, my eye was drawn to this one in particular. Words like wisdom, vulnerability, strength, youth came to me. I wasn't looking for anything, so I let go of the image until a month later when I was at Connie's studio for a beautiful Kali ritual (look that up 😉). After a meditation, when I opened my eyes, I was looking straight into the eyes of this beautiful woman. I felt a recognition of my journey from a young insecure woman to now, a strong, vulnerable, wiser older woman in this gaze. I also immediately knew where it had to hang! In the space I once bought to get closer to myself, free from society's expectations. It fits there perfectly. So happy with it! Thank you, Ron, for your creation, and Connie for introducing me to it!
